We’re alive! Welcome to our very first Leslie-Alford-Mims House blog post. It’s been a long process but we are so excited to share our journey with you and offer you a behind the scenes look into the revitalization and preservation of the Mims House.

We spent last Friday night celebrating the result of eight months of exhaustion and stress. Seriously though. We now have a few Mims House wrinkles gracing our cute little faces because of permits and repairs and trying to figure out how to make dollar bills grow on trees.

We’ve become carpentry, painting and furniture restoration masterminds who now know how to tile fireplaces and tediously scrape plaster off of hardwood floors. It’s been quite the process but we wouldn’t have it any other way. It feels as though new life has been breathed into a once saddening piece of property.

We have so much to catch you up on and especially want to fill you in on the details from the Grand Opening Party but for today, we’re focusing on letting you in on a little secret.

Did you know the Mims House is available for bridal portrait sessions whether you’re getting married here or not? Come one. Come all. The Mims House is officially available to provide you with the most elegant and stunning Southern backdrop for your bridal portrait session.  Having your hair and make up done professionally? Awesome. We have an in-house salon space so bring your stylist and get pampered.  We imagined you might have a few questions so see below for our most frequently asked ones and if you have others aside from what’s below, reach out to us. We’re happy to help.

Do I have to be getting married at the Mims House to have my bridal portraits taken there? Absolutely not. The space is available to anyone and everyone.

How much does it cost? If you’re getting married at the Mims House, a bridal portrait session is included with your rental rate. If you’re not, the investment is only $50 an hour. Payment is due the day of your shoot and we accept cash, checks and all major credit cards.

What if it’s raining? That’s the beauty of the Mims House. We have countless inside rooms, furniture and staging options that provide the perfect setting for your pictures. No need to worry a bit about the weather.

But what if I want some outdoor shots? Have you seen our stunning porches and grounds? Not only does the Mims House boast indoor opportunities but we are situated on an acre of land and surrounded by options for a more natural setting.

Do you require we use a particular photographer? Nope. The philosophy and foundation of the Mims House is built around supporting and promoting all of the amazing vendors in the industry. You’re welcome to work with any photographer you’d like.

I work during the week and was planning on having my portraits taken on a weekend. Is that okay? Absolutely. We are completely flexible and will work with your schedule to find the perfect time.

Do you have a space for me to get ready before my pictures? We sure do! We had the brilliant idea to transform one of our rooms into a salon. You’re welcome to use the space to have your hair and make up done and might we suggest indulging in a mimosa?

I need handlers. Can I bring my mom, sister, bridesmaid and/or pet? The more the merrier. And we love pets so bring your little Tessa or Scottie along. (P.S. - Those are our pups who can be frequently be found at Mims.)

I’m sold. How do I reserve my date and time? It’s super simple. Shoot us an email. We’ll respond right away and get you on the calendar.

There you have it. The ins and outs of hosting a bridal portrait shoot at our gem of a venue. If you’re getting married, we hope you’ll consider us for your pictures and if you’re a photographer, please help spread the word. We can’t wait to see the incredible pictures with our pride and joy as the setting. Hope to see you soon!
